Premium curry sauce producer Anila’s Authentic Sauces has gained a contract to supply a prestigious group of stores in Hong Kong.
The range has just launched in the flagship ParknShop food hall store, Great, in Central Hong Kong, as well as the ParknShop’s Taste store, in Stanley, Hong Kong.
The products are currently featuring as part of a British promotion in the retail outlets.
The news comes as Anila’s Authentic Sauces scoops another award for its curry sauces – this time for the Goan Green Curry Sauce, which has been named a winner in the FreeFrom Food Awards 2012.
It is the latest award given to the Goan Green, which was also named Best Vegan Product in The Veggie Awards 2011 by Cook Vegetarian! magazine, with the judges saying: “Not only one of the best vegan curry sauces we’ve ever tried but one of the best curry sauces available. Its complexity of flavours makes its taste truly sensational.”
At the FreeFrom Food Awards 2012, the judges said: “Anila’s sauces are always so wonderful as she uses such beautifully fresh and pure ingredients in such perfect balance. Lovely, subtle flavours, gently permeated by the coconut milk. Deep green flavour and fantastic ingredients.”
Eighteen of Anila’s products are now on sale in the Hong Kong stores, including curry sauces and accompaniments. The firm also exports to Germany and Ireland.
“I am very pleased to have secured an order to supply to such a well-regarded group of stores in Hong Kong,” said Anila Vaghela, who runs the company with husband Dan.
“And of course we are delighted that our Goan Green Curry Sauce has won another award. It’s our most popular product.”
Anila’s Authentic Sauces, which is based in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, with a production unit in Hounslow, produces a range of eight varieties of curry sauce and 17 types of a mix of pickles, chutneys and dips, including a new spicy Indian salsa which has been launched in 2012 to mark 20 years since Anila sold her first curry sauce at a local fair.

New spicy Indian salsa launched to celebrate 20 year anniversary for Anila’s sauces
Premium curry sauce producer Anila’s Authentic Sauces is launching a new spicy Indian salsa to celebrate 20 years in the business.
It’s 20 years since Anila Vaghela sold her first jar of homemade curry sauce at an Easter fair in Weybridge, Surrey, in 1992.
Now a supplier of award-winning curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips to top delis, speciality stores and farm shops across the UK, Anila’s Authentic Sauces is unveiling a new product to mark the occasion, together with a recipe leaflet.
The spicy Indian salsa complements the current range of 16 accompaniments produced by Anila’s which are made with single fruits and vegetables.
Handmade with fresh ingredients, the spicy Indian salsa is gluten free, dairy free and contains no onions or garlic.
A delicious blend of tomatoes, red peppers, green chillies and spices, the salsa is the perfect accompaniment to Anila’s range of eight authentic curry sauces.
“I started by using old traditional family recipes and I still use them today as the basis of my products, 20 years on,” said Anila Vaghela. “We continue to make our curry sauces and accompaniments in small batches, and we sell direct to the public via farmers’ markets and other events.
However, production has obviously increased significantly since those early days and my products are now on sale at places like Harrods, John Lewis Oxford Street and Bluewater, Chatsworth Farm Shop, and more recently Booths in Penrith and Manchester.
“The new spicy Indian salsa is also based on a family recipe, and I’m looking forward to sharing it with our customers.”
Recommended retail price for the 200g jar is £3.30. The salsa is currently available via www.anilassauces.com and is expected to be rolled out to stockists across the country.
Growing up as the eldest child and grandchild in the family, Anila learnt to cook alongside her mother, her grandmothers and her great grandmother while they were living in Zimbabwe.
Years later, as a busy mum living in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, Anila would make large batches of curry sauce for convenience. Her cooking had always been popular with friends and family, and in the early 1990s she began selling jars of curry sauce on a very small scale in her local community. She sold all 80 jars at her first fair at Easter in Weybridge in 1992. Phone calls from very satisfied customers followed, and Anila began fulfilling small orders.
In 1997 she was made redundant from her job as a PA and decided to seize the opportunity to form her own company to develop Anila’s Authentic Sauces. Before long Anila’s curry sauces were on the shelves of a range of health stores, delicatessens and independent specialist shops.
Anila outgrew her kitchen at home and moved to a catering kitchen in Surbiton in 2002. A year later the business needed larger premises once more, and Anila’s re-located to a 1400 sq ft unit in Hounslow. In 2006, husband Dan also joined the team as operations manager and is in charge of production, whilst Anila takes care of sales & marketing.
Anila’s now produces eight varieties of curry sauce and 16 types of a mix of pickles, chutneys and dips – plus the spicy Indian salsa. The firm supplies hundreds of outlets that include garden centres, delis, farm shops, gift shops and also health stores. It also sells direct to the public at farmers’ markets and at food shows and festivals as well as online via www.anilassauces.com
“It’s amazing to think that it’s been 20 years since I made my first proper sale,” said Anila, who’s 55. “At the time, Indian food wasn’t anywhere near as popular as it is today, and there were very few small producers like myself, only large manufacturers supplying the supermarkets. I started with four flavours of curry sauce – additional sauces and the chutneys and pickles came later as a result of demand from customers.
“I was 40 when I was made redundant, and having set up my own business, I haven’t looked back. Since I was a child I have had a great love of food and of cooking, and it’s been a dream come true to run Anila’s.”
Anila’s sauces are based on a traditional family recipe, made from the freshest ingredients in small batches. They are free from artificial colours, additives and preservatives, and are sugar, dairy and gluten free, and contain no onion or garlic. Using 23 different spices, the sauces have a homemade quality just like “Mum makes” and there are certainly no imitations.
FoodLovers Approved, Anila’s Authentic Sauces has won 11 Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food for its products. Its Goan Green Curry Sauce was named Best Vegan Product in The Veggie Awards 2011 by Cook Vegetarian! magazine, with the judges saying: “Not only one of the best vegan curry sauces we’ve ever tried but one of the best curry sauces available. In 2009 Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a “Free From” Food Award.

Anila's Authentic Sauces gains first Scottish distributor
Award-winning premium curry sauce and accompaniments producer Anila’s Authentic Sauces has gained its first dedicated Scottish distributor, who has almost immediately begun supplying to six independent retailers.
The move will help Anila’s to expand its retail stockists north of the border, and comes as the firm launches its stylish new branding with peel and reveal labelling that will inspire customers to create fantastic dishes of their own.
Anila’s products, which sell through delis, farm shops, health food stores and quality food retailers, recently unveiled new labels to reflect the distinct characteristics of the range.
The labels highlight the concentrated nature of the superb Indian curry sauces – adding water doubles the quantity of curry sauce. The labels also emphasize the authentic great taste …and that the sauces contain only natural ingredients, are free from dairy, gluten, added sugar, onion and garlic, and are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
And behind the new-look label on each jar is a guide to making the perfect authentic meal using the ingredients of choice along with serving suggestions and contact details for even more great recipe ideas.
The curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips are also being packaged in chic new jars.
“We are very pleased to have our first dedicated Scottish distributor,” said Anila Vaghela, who founded Anila’s Authentic Sauces in 1997. “This will make it easier for our existing Scottish stockists, and should hopefully help us to increase the number of retailers who would like to have our curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips on their shelves.”
Wholesale supplier Blue Mountain Scotland, run by Raymond Wilson, will be working with Anila’s Authentic Sauces to provide a distribution service covering most of Scotland.
“Raymond came to London to visit our manufacturing unit, as he is very hands on and wanted to see how our fantastic products are made. The ethos of Raymond's business is that people buy from people and customer satisfaction is number one priority,” added Anila.
Raymond said: “I have been looking for some time for a product that I could add to my portfolio, and felt that Anila's range was just perfect. I am delighted with how well it is being received in Scotland.”
Anila’s produces eight premium concentrated curry sauces, covering most regional tastes of India, handmade in small batches, as well as a range of 16 chutneys, pickles and dips made with single fruits and vegetables. The chutneys and pickles, which are also made using natural ingredients, are delicious accompaniments to curries and cheese, and perfect in sandwiches and marinades.

Anila's Authentic Sauces ideal during Food Allergy and Intolerance Week - January 24th to 28th 2011
Award-winning curry sauces from Anila’s are ideal for curry lovers with food allergies or intolerances…being dairy-free, gluten-free and sugar-free, and containing no onions or garlic.
With Food Allergy and Intolerance Week running from January 24th to 28th 2011, it’s the perfect time to discover how Anila’s Authentic Sauces can spice up the diet of anyone who has to take special care over what they eat.
Anila’s has a range of eight curry sauces, based on traditional Indian recipes. They have won 11 Great Taste Awards, and in 2009 Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award. The Goan Green was recently voted Best Vegan product in the Veggie Awards 2011 run by Cook Vegetarian! magazine.
Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, as well as being sugar-free, gluten-free and dairy-free, they also, unusually, don’t contain onions or garlic, so are perfect for people with different intolerances or allergies.
“Producing items that are sugar-free, dairy-free and gluten-free is quite mainstream now, but I’ve noticed an increasing trend for people who are intolerant or allergic to alliums, like onions or garlic,” says Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business of Anila’s Authentic Sauces in 1997.
“I base my recipes for Anila’s curry sauces, chutneys and pickles on the dishes I create for my family, and don’t use onions and garlic. I seem to be gaining an increasing number of allium-intolerant customers who are delighted to discover that my traditional and tasty products don’t contain ingredients that upset them.
“Many people mistakenly believe that all curries contain onion and garlic, and curry-lovers could be missing out on their favourite foods because of this belief. But I don’t use alliums in my cooking or my products, and they are proving very popular.”
Anila’s also produces a distinctive and delicious range of 16 different mouth-watering ‘handmade’ chutneys, pickles and dips which are made with single fruits and vegetables, and team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks, meats and cheeses.
Based in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, Anila’s also has a unit in West London. Anila’s products are sold at John Lewis Oxford Street and John Lewis Bluewater, and top quality gourmet stores, such as Harrods, Wholefoods and Planet Organic, plus hundreds of other outlets that include health food stores, garden centres and gift shops, as well as smaller independent stores such as Budgens at Ascot, Shepperton and Crouch End. Anila’s also sells direct to the public at around 20 farmers’ markets across Surrey, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire, including Guildford, Walton, Windsor, Maidenhead, Ascot, Ripley, Reading, Beaconsfield and Farnham, and online via www.anilassauces.com

Liven up festive catering, make the best of Christmas leftovers and always be prepared for unexpected dinner guests by stocking up on store cupboard essentials from the Anila’s curry sauce and accompaniments range.
Anila’s Authentic Sauces can help take the heat out of Christmas culinary stress. The versatile jars of curry sauce are perfect for whipping up quick and easy dishes on Boxing Day or adding a spicy twist to party dips.
The chutneys, pickles and dips are a tasty addition to a Christmas or New Year buffet, and will brighten up any cold meat or cheese selections.
“Christmas and New Year catering can be quite stressful, but the secret is in the planning,” explains Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business of Anila’s Authentic Sauces in 1997.
“Being well prepared with a range of tasty store cupboard essentials is one way of making things easier, and it will also ensure that you’re never short of ideas. Anila’s curry sauces and accompaniments are very versatile, and can play a great role in a wide range of different meals and snacks during the festive period when food and drink tend to be a focus.”
Anila’s curry sauces are the ideal store cupboard essential to stock up on before the festive season, as they’re suitable for vegetarians and vegans, as well as being sugar-free, gluten-free and dairy-free. They also don’t contain onions or garlic.
So they are perfect for anyone with specific allergies or intolerances, and just the product for hosts who could find themselves catering for unexpected, or expected, guests with differing dietary needs!

Best Vegan Product for Anila’s Goan Green Curry Sauce in The Veggie Awards 2011
Anila’s Authentic Sauces has scooped another top accolade for its popular Goan Green Curry Sauce by being named as the Best Vegan Product in The Veggie Awards 2011.
The prize-winning product, which also won a two star Gold Great Taste Award in July 2010, was announced as the winner of the vegan category in the awards run by Cook Vegetarian! magazine.
The magazine said: “Not only one of the best vegan curry sauces we’ve ever tried but one of the best curry sauces available. Its complexity of flavours makes its taste truly sensational.”
The news has delighted Anila’s founder Anila Vaghela, who said: “The Goan Green Curry Sauce is one of our most popular sauces and really is something very special. To win a two star gold Great Taste Award and the Best Vegan Product Award in the space of a few months shows that vegan food can be both tasty and delicious.
“We are thrilled to bits to learn that the judges loved our Goan Green as much as our customers do, and are very proud to win an accolade in the Veggie Awards 2011. It’s a very versatile curry sauce, because as well as being suitable for vegetarians and vegans, it’s also dairy free, gluten free and has no added sugar.”
Anila’s has won 11 Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food for its range of premium curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips. To win a two star award in the summer, up to 20 judges unanimously agreed that the Goan Green Curry Sauce had achieved ‘absolute perfection’. Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce also scooped a Free From Food Award in 2009.
Made with mint, coriander, spinach and coconut, Anila’s Goan Green Curry Sauce is sold in a range of speciality retailers, delis and farm shops, including Harrods and John Lewis Food Halls at Oxford Street and Bluewater.
It is one of eight premium curry sauces, handmade in small batches, by Anila’s, which was founded in 1997 by Anila Vaghela. The firm also produces a range of 16 chutneys, pickles and dips made with single fruits and vegetables.
The Veggie Awards celebrate flavour, versatility and innovation in the world of meat-free foods, and were being held for the second year.
Cook Vegetarian! deputy editor Fae Gilfillan said: “Once again, food companies came up trumps with their entries for this year’s Veggies proving that vegetarianism is simply not a boring or restrictive diet. We had great fun selecting the winners but with more and more products nominated every year, crowning our winners doesn’t get any easier!”
Anila’s Authentic Sauces is based in Walton-on-Thames with a unit in Hounslow, and is run by Anila and her husband Dan.
Anila’s cooking has always been popular with friends and family, and in the early 1990s she began selling jars of curry sauce on a very small scale in her local community in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. She sold all 80 jars at her first fair at Weybridge in 1992. Phone calls from very satisfied customers followed, and Anila began fulfilling small orders.
In 1997 she was made redundant from a job as a PA and decided to seize the opportunity to form her own company to develop Anila’s Authentic Sauces.
She carried out extensive research, took expert business advice, and felt there was a gap in the market for high-quality, premium curry sauces. She soon gained a listing in the food hall of her local department store, and before long Anila’s curry sauces were on the shelves of a range of health stores, delicatessens and independent specialist shops.
Anila outgrew her kitchen at home and moved to a catering kitchen in Surbiton in 2002. A year later the business needed larger premises once more, and Anila’s re-located to a 1400 sq ft unit in Hounslow. In 2006, husband Dan also joined the team.
Anila’s products are now sold at John Lewis Oxford Street and John Lewis Bluewater, and top quality gourmet stores, such as Harrods, Wholefoods and Planet Organic, plus hundreds of other outlets that include health food stores, garden centres and gift shops, as well as smaller independent stores such as Budgens at Ascot, Shepperton and Crouch End. Anila’s also sells direct to the public at 28 farmers’ markets across Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, including Guildford, Walton, Windsor, Maidenhead, Ascot, Cobham, Beaconsfield and Farnham, and online via www.anilassauces.com

Anila's Authentic Sauces gains first distribution order to Switzerland
Anila’s Authentic Sauces will be warming up meals in snowy Switzerland after the firm received its first export order from the country.
Earlier this year the award-winning curry sauce and accompaniments producer won an export order to Germany after exhibiting at the world’s most important food and drink sector trade fair, Anuga.
Anila’s travelled with UK Trade & Investment to exhibit as part of the British Pavilion at Anuga in Cologne in October 2009.
Now the company run by Anila Vaghela has secured a second order as a result of contacts made at the trade fair and has started exporting to Switzerland for the first time.
A Swiss distributor has ordered more than 1,100 jars of curry sauces, chutneys and pickles from the firm, which is based in Walton-on-Thames with a unit in Hounslow, and is run by Anila and her husband Dan.
“This is great news for Anila’s Authentic Sauces,” said Anila Vaghela. “Exhibiting at Anuga marked the start of our push into exporting to Continental Europe, and I am delighted that this is now bearing fruit for us.”
The distributor has taken the whole of Anila’s range, which features eight premium curry sauces, handmade in small batches, and 16 chutneys, pickles and dips made with single fruits and vegetables.
Anila’s now exports to Germany, Ireland, Dubai and Switzerland, and hopes to continue expanding to other countries.
The news of the Switzerland order comes as Anila’s celebrates scooping a two ** Gold Great Taste Award for its popular Goan Green Curry Sauce.
The accolade marked the 11th Great Taste Award presented to Anila’s range of premium curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips by The Guild of Fine Food.
To win such a high rating, up to 20 judges unanimously agreed that the Goan Green Curry Sauce had achieved ‘absolute perfection’.
“The Goan Green Curry Sauce is one of our most popular sauces, and we are thoroughly delighted that the judges of the Great Taste Awards 2010 agree that it’s something very special,” said Anila, who founded Anila’s Authentic Sauces in 1997.

“There are so many different ways that a jar of Anila’s curry sauce can be used in recipes,” explains Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business in 1997. “As well as being the key ingredient for tasty authentic curries, they can also be used to spice up a range of dishes….from pizzas to sandwiches.”
Try spreading Anila’s curry sauce onto bread, adding sliced cheese and tomato, and grilling for a delicious snack. Or add a tablespoon of Anila’s curry sauce to salad cream or mayonnaise for a tangy dip that can be served with fresh crunchy vegetables or chips.
Anila’s produces a range of eight premium curry sauces, handmade in small batches and free from preservatives, sugar, dairy and gluten. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, the sauces are also perfect for those with allium intolerance, as they don’t contain onions or garlic.
Anila’s sauces have won ten Great Taste Awards, and last year her Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award.
Anila’s also produces a range of 16 chutneys, pickles and dips made with single fruits and vegetables, which team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks and cheeses.
The firm is based in Walton-on-Thames with a unit in Hounslow, and will be exhibiting at The Real Food Festival at Earls Court, London, from May 7th to 10th.

Anila’s starts exporting to Germany
Award-winning curry sauce and accompaniments producer Anila’s has gained its first export order to Germany.
Three of the firm’s chutneys have been snapped up by a quality retailer, with a further ten of Anila’s products due to become available to the German market shortly.
The contract comes after the firm exhibited for the first time at the world’s most important food and drink sector trade fair at Anuga in Germany in October, which marked a push by Anila’s onto the global stage.
“I am delighted that we have secured a first order for Anila’s in Germany,” said Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business in 1997. “We have been looking at exports for the past five years, and already have outlets in Ireland and Dubai, but we have been keen to move onto the Continent. This order in Germany represents what I hope will be the first of a number.”
The firm, which is based in Walton-on-Thames with a unit in Hounslow, also has interest in its products from France and Switzerland, added Anila.
“Exhibiting at Anuga was a great opportunity for us to showcase Anila’s curry sauces and accompaniments to the world,” she said. “I believe there is huge potential for export. We are very pleased to now be on sale in Germany, which is another step forward as we build our export portfolio.”
A pallet containing jars of Sweet Mango Chutney, Chilli Chutney and Tamarind and Date Chutney has now left the UK bound for a German online retailer – a Lakeland-style outlet which sells gourmet products and kitchen equipment.
The German distributor handling Anila’s products is also taking an order of seven of Anila’s curry sauces – Fruity Mild, Goan Green, Mild Korma, Spicy Korma, Spicy Mild, Spicy Medium and Hot Methi – as well as Anila’s Aubergine Pickle, Sweet Mango Pickle and Tindori Pickle.
Labels have been translated into German to cater for the export market.
Anila’s range features eight varieties of authentic curry sauces and 16 varieties of pickles, chutneys and dips. Anila’s sauces are based on traditional Indian recipes, and are gluten-free and dairy-free. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, they are also free from onions and garlic, which suits people who are intolerant to alliums.
Anila’s sauces have won ten Great Taste Awards, and last year her Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award.
Anila’s distinctive and delicious range of mouth-watering ‘handmade’ chutneys, pickles and dips are made with single fruits and vegetables, and team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks and cheeses.

Anila's range to be exhibited at the Natural & Organic trade show in April 2010
Revised branding that highlights the health messages of Anila’s curry sauces and condiments will be showcased at the Natural & Organic trade show in April 2010.
The labelling of Anila’s authentic range has been tweaked to emphasize the gluten-free, dairy-free, onion-free and garlic-free nature of her products.
The move has been made in response to an increase in demand for Anila’s curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips from those with intolerances and allergies.
The entire range of eight curry sauces and 16 chutneys, pickles and dips will be on display at the trade show, which runs from 11th to 12th April at Olympia, London.
“Our branding changes to Anila’s products have been slight, but they have been made to highlight and promote the fact that our products are dairy-free, gluten-free, onion-free and garlic-free,” said Anila’s founder Anila Vaghela, who launched the family-run business in 1997. “They have several USPs, including the benefits to those who have intolerances to certain ingredients.
“The ‘free from’ market is becoming an increasingly important side of the business. Anila’s curry sauces weren’t specifically designed to be ‘free from’ foods – it’s just the way they are. However, it’s more than a happy coincidence, because it’s the way I like to cook and the sort of food I like to eat. One of the things that appeals to Anila’s customers with food allergies or intolerances is that they can eat sit down and share the same food as the rest of their families.
“My curry sauces also illustrate the fact that ‘free from’ foods don’t have to be bland or tasteless in any way. Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce won a three star gold Great Taste Award in 2007, and last year was also crowned the winner in the Free From Food Awards in the pies, flans, sausages and sauces category. It’s won a gourmet award and a ‘free from’ award, which says a lot.”
Anila’s sauces are based on traditional Indian recipes, and are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. As well as the Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooping a Free From Food Award last year, Anila’s sauces have also won ten Great Taste Awards.
Anila’s distinctive and delicious range of mouth-watering ‘handmade’ chutneys, pickles and dips are made with single fruits and vegetables, and team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks and cheeses.

Anila's makes its debut at FARMA trade show
The Surrey-based firm run by Anila Vaghela is exhibiting at the FARMA show for the first time, which this year takes place at Telford International Centre on January 27th 2010.
“I have supplied farm shops and independent stores for many years, and traded at farmers’ markets for more than a decade, and I feel this is the perfect opportunity to introduce Anila’s curry sauces and accompaniments to a wider trade audience,” said Anila, who is based in Walton-on-Thames and has a unit in Hounslow.
“We believe that our products give farm shop customers the chance to re-create a quality dine-in experience to match that of restaurants with our range of award winning curry sauces. With pickles and chutneys which are ideal on the side of a curry or as an accompaniment with Indian snacks and side dishes, there will be something to tickle all tastebuds from our large range. The accompaniments are a delight with cheese and in sandwiches too.”
Anila’s, which was launched in 1997, produces a range of eight curry sauces, based on traditional Indian recipes. They have won ten Great Taste Awards, and in 2009 Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award.

Help banish the New Year winter blues naturally with Anila’s curry sauces and accompaniments
Anila’s curry sauces are the tasty way to help lift a mood and banish the winter blues. The heat and spices of a curry triggers the release of endorphins, otherwise known as the ‘feel good’ hormones, … helping to create a natural ‘high’.
A perfect ‘pick-me-up’ when days are dull, a curry could be just the thing to put some sparkle in your step.
But be prepared – it’s thought by some that curries are addictive, so be sure to stock up the cupboards to see you through the winter.
“When you eat a curry, the body releases endorphins in response to the hotter ingredients in the dish,” explains Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business of Anila’s Authentic Sauces in 1997. “These ‘feel good’ hormones help to lift a mood and make people feel happier, so curries are perfect as a pick-me-up during the gloomy winter months.”
Anila’s curry sauces are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, as well as being sugar-free, gluten-free and dairy-free. They also don’t contain onions or garlic.
Perfect for anyone with specific allergies or intolerances, Anila’s has a range of eight curry sauces, based on traditional Indian recipes. They have won ten Great Taste Awards, and in 2009 Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award.
Several studies have shown that eating curry releases endorphins, or feel good hormones, which help relieve stress and lift a mood. Some of the spices used in Anila’s curry sauces are also beneficial for other aspects of health. Cumin is good for the intestines, while fennel helps swellings or upset stomachs. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties, boosts circulation and is good for colds and joints. Coriander can also help with respiratory problems when combined with cumin and turmeric, which in itself is an antioxidant that cleanses the blood and is good for joints.
Salicylic acid, which is used in aspirin, and is found naturally in curries, can help prevent colon cancer and treat headaches.
“Spices are an excellent way of boosting health during winter,” explains Anila.
As well as curry sauces, Anila’s also produces a distinctive and delicious range of 16 different mouth-watering ‘handmade’ chutneys, pickles and dips, which are made with single fruits and vegetables, and team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks, meats and cheeses.

Christmas mix and match range from Anila's
Authentic curry sauce and accompaniment producer Anila’s has created a mix and match gift range for Christmas to suit all tastes.
Knowing that some people like their curries hot and spicy, while others prefer mild and fruity, Anila’s is giving gift buyers the opportunity to choose which three items they’d like to include in a Christmas gift bag.
Customers can opt for any three products from eight varieties of authentic curry sauce and 16 varieties of pickles, chutneys and dips, to create a beautifully presented gift pack that’s been personally chosen.
Each gift comes in a quality jute bag that contains pockets for three of Anila’s products, with prices ranging from £12 to £14.
“Providing customers with the opportunity to choose which three items they would like for the Christmas gift pack, means they can make the gift much more personalized and opt for the strength and spiciness of products that their friend or loved one will enjoy,” says Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business in 1997.
Anila’s sauces are based on traditional Indian recipes, and are gluten-free, dairy-free and have no added sugar. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, they are also free from onions and garlic, which suits people who are intolerant to alliums.
Anila’s sauces have won ten Great Taste Awards, and earlier this year her Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award.
Anila’s distinctive and delicious range of mouth-watering ‘handmade’ chutneys, pickles and dips are made with single fruits and vegetables, and team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks and cheeses.
