Derbyshire farm shop Croots is celebrating Farmhouse Breakfast Week with all-day breakfasts and a buy-one-get-one-free deal on breakfasts.
This is the fourth year that the farm shop on Wirksworth Road, Duffield, has taken part in the national event which aims to promote the importance of breakfast.
From Tuesday January 24th to Sunday January 29th, Croots will be offering breakfast all day in Croots Kitchen, with a buy-one-get-one-free deal.
Farmhouse Breakfast Week has been run annually by the HGCA (the cereals and oilseeds division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board) since the year 2000, and aims to raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast and demonstrate the variety of breakfast foods available in the UK.
The theme for the campaign is “Shake Up Your Wake Up” - make small changes to your morning routine to make sure you have time for breakfast every day.
Steve Croot, who runs Croots Farm Shop, said: “We have taken part in Farmhouse Breakfast Week since we launched in 2008. We feel it’s an excellent way of raising awareness of the importance of a healthy breakfast and the wonderful range of local and national breakfast items there are to choose from.
“Our breakfasts will feature a number of Derbyshire products, including our own award-winning sausages.”
Croots Farm Shop and Kitchen is open Sundays from 10am to 4pm (café until 3.45pm), and from Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm (café until 4.30pm). It is closed on Mondays.

Traditional English breakfast turned into a pie at Croots Farm Shop, Derbyshire, for Farmhouse Breakfast Week
| Steve Croot enjoys Croots Breakfast Pie |
Croots Farm Shop in Derbyshire is celebrating Farmhouse Breakfast Week this month (January) with the launch of a new Breakfast Pie featuring bacon, egg, sausage, beans, mushroom and topped with sliced potatoes.
The pastry-based pie, which has been created and cooked by the team at Croots, will go on sale for the first time during Farmhouse Breakfast Week – the annual campaign by the HGCA to raise awareness of the importance of eating a healthy breakfast.
Running from January 23rd to 29th, Farmhouse Breakfast Week also aims to demonstrate the variety of breakfast ingredients on offer in the UK.
“To celebrate this year’s Farmhouse Breakfast Week we’ve decided to put as many ingredients from a traditional English breakfast as possible into a pie and we’ve cooked up a Croots Breakfast Pie,” said Steve Croot, who runs Croots Farm Shop at Farnah House Farm, Wirksworth Road, near Duffield.
“Last year we unveiled a Croots breakfast banger to mark the occasion, but this year we’ve gone one step further and designed a special pie which is the complete cooked breakfast. It’s absolutely delicious.”
The farm shop has become renowned for its sausages and cooked meat products, as well as being a supporter of local producers and suppliers.
“This is the 12th annual Farmhouse Breakfast Week, and it’s something we have supported every year since we launched Croots in 2008,” said Steve. “It’s very important to start the day properly, yet one in four people skip breakfast. There are so many options for a quick and healthy breakfast, and Farmhouse Breakfast Week aims to promote that.”
During Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which this year has the theme of Shake up your Wake up, Croots will also be offering deals on a new range of cereals and juices.
Croots Breakfast Pie will be on sale in the shop and the café priced £2.75.

Croots Farm Shop launches new sausage for Farmhouse Breakfast Week
Derbyshire farm shop Croots will be celebrating Farmhouse Breakfast Week this month by launching a new sausage.
Croots Breakfast Banger has been designed by the Duffield farm shop’s in-house butchers, and features pork, smoked bacon, black pudding, tomato, mushroom and egg.
The farm shop has become renowned for its sausages and now has a range of around 30, including the award-winning black pudding sausage which won a gold star in the Great Taste Awards 2009.
“Farmhouse Breakfast Week is now in its 11th year, and is a great way of promoting the wide range of breakfast products available from Derbyshire, the region and beyond,” said Steve Croot, owner of Croots Farm Shop, in Wirksworth Road, Duffield.
“It’s also a great time to launch our new Croots Breakfast Banger, which features many of the ingredients of a traditional English breakfast, and which we hope will be a real hit with our customers.”
Croots Farm Shop & Kitchen will be staging all-day breakfasts and special promotions on its sausages, bacon, eggs and some other breakfast items to mark Farmhouse Breakfast Week, which runs from January 24th to 30th.
“Breakfast is widely regarded as being the most important meal of the day, and there’s a really wide range of options available, like eggs, sausages and bacon, cereals, fruit and yoghurt,” said Steve. “We’re renowned for our breakfasts at Croots, as well as our sausages, but during Farmhouse Breakfast Week we’ll be selling breakfasts all day, and we’ll also have special offers in the shop on breakfast ingredients.”
Farmhouse Breakfast Week is a national campaign that aims to highlight the importance of eating a healthy breakfast. Farmers, producers, retailers and consumers across the UK are all getting involved to promote the value of starting each day with a good breakfast, and emphasising the wealth of regional products on offer.
Farmhouse Breakfast Week at Croots will have a Derbyshire flavour, with many of the items served up coming from the county. Taking centre stage will be Croots sausages, which are made using free range Packington pork by the in-house butchers at Croots. A selection from the 30-strong sausage range is on sale at any one time.
During Farmhouse Breakfast Week Croots Farm Shop will be serving up all-day breakfasts to mark the event and will also be offering a 10% discount on many breakfast items, such as sausages, bacon and eggs.
Croots is open Sundays from 10am to 4pm (café until 3.45pm), and from Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm (café until 4.30pm). It is closed on Mondays.
