Sweet treat from Haughton Honey for customers looking for a bigger honey fix

Haughton Honey's new 900g pot of honey
Premium honey brand Haughton Honey has launched a new 900g pot of delicious raw honey.

It is believed to be the first brand of raw British honey to be widely available in such a size of container, which is very popular within mainland Europe, and holds the equivalent of two and a half jars of their well-known 340g honey product.

The new tub has been launched in response to popular demand, and is aimed at consumers who would otherwise normally purchase two or three jars for their own use.

“Our honey monsters can’t seem to get enough of Haughton Honey, so we’re making it easier for them to buy the raw honey in larger quantities,” said Haughton Honey founder Crispin Reeves. “Initial interest from customers in our new, larger pots at recent food and drink festivals has been exceptional.”

The company, based at Radmore Farm, Haughton, near Tarporley, in Cheshire, bottles raw honey which comes straight from the hive, is cold extracted and never pasteurised which means that it retains all of the natural enzymes and proteins that make English honey so special. It is also 100% natural and pure and features traces of dandelion, chestnut, blackberry, clover and other wildflowers.
Launched in 2014, Haughton Honey is expected to pack and sell more than 16,000 kg of raw honey during 2016, as demand for the honey grows.
Currently available online at www.haughtonhoney.com or at food festivals attended by Haughton Honey, the large tub is expected to be rolled out to many of the almost 100 independent stores, delis, farm shops and garden centres across the North West and Midlands regions, as well as Booths stores, which stock the brand.
The all-natural product is brilliant for baking, stirring into hot drinks or porridge, or as a topping on toast, crumpets and muffins. Hay fever sufferers swear by a spoonful of honey a day to ward of some of the more unpleasant symptoms of the condition.
Earlier this year, the company staged a successful crowdfunding appeal to help support its expansion plans, raising more than £112,000 in investments.
A 340g jar of Haughton Honey costs £5.95, with a 900g tub priced at £12.95 online.

Gruntled Pork Crackling snack launched by Salty Dog Brands

A new premium pork crackling snack has been added to the Salty Dog and Darling Spuds stable, with the launch of Gruntled Pork Crackling.
Available in three flavours, Cornish Sea Salt, Habanero and English Mustard, the snack is aimed at pubs, bars, hotels, cafés and other hospitality outlets, as well as delis, farm shops and other retailers and has already been snapped up by fine food and drink retailer Booths.
The pork crackling is double cooked, so it is lighter and easier to eat than traditional pork scratchings, and the brand is entirely gluten and MSG-free across all flavours. It is currently available in 40g bags.
The Gruntled brand has been created by Dave Willis, who co-founded cool crisps, nibbly nuts and gourmet popcorn brand Salty Dog in 2003 and feisty flavoured crisps and toasted corn kernels brand Darling Spuds in 2010 along with wife Judy.
His latest venture brings a new range of snacks to the market, but with the pedigree of the Salty Dog and Darling Spuds brand behind him.
“The alternative snacks market continues to grow, with flavour and indulgence two of the key drivers of consumer demand, and the new Gruntled brand has bags of both,” said Dave. “Pork scratchings have always been a guilty pleasure of mine, so I thought to myself “why be guilty? What can we change?”.
“Now I am exceedingly proud to introduce Gruntled to an unsuspecting world! We’ve taken the finest pork, cooked it twice, which makes it lighter and less tooth breaking than traditional scratchings. We’ve then seasoned it with completely natural flavours, making sure that there’s nothing unsavoury like gluten or MSG inside.”
Gruntled Pork Crackling is available from Chiltern Snacks - telephone 01494 776006 or visit www.chilternsnacks.co.uk. Minimum order is usually £60, but for retailers a special introductory offer of three cases – one of each flavour and each containing 20 packs - for the price of two is available until 30th June 2016. A case of mixed flavours is also available for a limited period.
Gruntled snacks are being offered in display cases of 20 bags, or the same display case of 20 with a loose clip strip inside, or in larger volumes for bigger operators.
The RRP for 40g bags is 90p. Visit www.getgruntled.co.uk for more details.

Haughton Honey makes a bee-line for Booths

Cheshire-based business Haughton Honey is celebrating securing its first premium major multiple retailer contract after signing a deal with Booths.
It means the high-quality honey brand will be available on the shelves of Booths outlets across the North West, including Hale Barns and Knutsford stores in Cheshire and at Media City in Salford.
The move marks a key step forward for the brand, which was launched in 2014, said founder Crispin Reeves.
“Booths, with almost 30 stores across Lancashire, Cumbria, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Greater Manchester, is the perfect outlet for Haughton Honey and complements the scores of independent delis, farm shops and retailers that currently stock our pure honey,” said Crispin, who is based at Haughton, near Tarporley.
“This deal is great news for the business, as we expand, and also good news for customers who now have more places where they can buy Haughton Honey.”
Haughton Honey is raw honey which comes straight from the hive, is cold extracted and never pasteurised which means that it retains all of the natural enzymes and proteins that make English honey so special. It is 100% natural and pure, and features traces of dandelion, chestnut, blackberry, clover and other wildflowers.
Haughton Honey is supplied by apiaries locally as well as from around England, all run by experienced bee-keepers, and now has more than 1,600 hives in the cooperative, stretching across the North West and the Midlands, including Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.
The Booths contract launched at the end of March 2016.
“It has always been our aim to supply Haughton Honey to top-end multiple retailers, such as Booths which has an enviable reputation for its fine food and drink, and we’re delighted that our honey is now on their shelves. It’s a ringing endorsement for us and for our honey,” added Crispin.

New outlets selling Anila’s Authentic Sauces products

Products from Anila’s Authentic Sauces are going on sale in two new premium stores from next month.

Anila’s range of curry sauces and accompaniments is being taken for the first time by North West retailer Booths. The products are going into its new Penrith store which opens in Cumbria on November 15th.

A selection of Anila’s products is also going on sale in Glasgow in Whole Foods Market – the world’s leading organic and natural grocery store. The retailer is opening its first outlet in the UK outside London on November 16th.

“I am delighted to have secured shelf space for Anila’s products in two such well-regarded retailers,” said Anila Vaghela, who runs Anila’s Authentic Sauces. “It’s exciting to be going into Booths for the first time, and also to be part of Whole Foods’ expansion plans.

“We’ve supplied the Whole Foods branches in London for more than ten years now, and it is great news that a store is being opened in Glasgow.”

The stores are the latest in a number of new outlets that have recently taken Anila’s products, including Bents Garden & Home, Cheshire – four times holder of the best destination garden centre in the UK.

Anila’s Authentic Sauces produces an eight-strong range of award-winning gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free curry sauces. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, the sauces are sold in speciality food stores, farm shops, garden centres and health shops around the country, including top stores like Harrods and John Lewis Food Halls at Oxford Street and Bluewater.

The company, founded by Anila in 1997, also produces a mouth-watering range of 16 chutneys, pickles and dips.

The Penrith Booths store, which will be the 28th outlet for the family-run retailer, is taking 15 lines, including all eight curry sauces. Whole Foods Market, which sells some of the finest natural and organic food available, is taking a similar number.

Anila’s Authentic Sauces has won 11 Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food for its products. Its Goan Green Curry Sauce was named Best Vegan Product in The Veggie Awards 2011 by Cook Vegetarian! magazine, with the judges saying: “Not only one of the best vegan curry sauces we’ve ever tried but one of the best curry sauces available. Its complexity of flavours makes its taste truly sensational.”

In 2009 Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a “Free From” Food Award.

Anila’s Authentic Sauces is based in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, with a unit in Hounslow, and is run by Anila and her husband Dan.
