Full Movement Method demos at Wellbeing & Beauty Fair

Therapists who practise the Full Movement Method to treat muscle and joint pain as well as immobility will be giving demonstrations at a Nottinghamshire Wellbeing & Beauty Fair.

The event, which takes place on Sunday 18th November, is the chance to find out more about the therapy, which has been used to help road accident victims, injured sportsmen and women, and others who are suffering pain.

It’s also the opportunity for therapists and those who currently work in the field to discover more about how to train in the Full Movement Method, which has a new course launching early in 2013.

Representatives from both the Full Movement Method training school and its sister organisation the Shanti Yoga School, which teaches yoga teachers, will be at the Wellbeing & Beauty Fair, which is free to attend and runs from 10am to 4pm at Carlton le Willows Academy, Gedling.

The event is due to feature a range of stalls focusing on skincare, nutrition and diet, relaxation, pamper sessions, therapies and treats.

Liz Thomas, who runs the FMM training school and Shanti Yoga School, will be on hand to give more information about how to train with both organisations and where to find a therapist or yoga teacher.

FMM was developed by the late Andy Thomas, from West Bridgford, Nottingham, and uses yoga postures as a diagnostic and treatment tool, alongside soft tissue techniques, deep tissue massage and joint mobilisations.

Andy, who died last year, trained many practitioners in the therapy. The next course in FMM starts in January and runs in Colwick.

Based at the Eco Centre at Home Farm, Screveton near Bingham, its sister organisation Shanti Yoga School offers yoga teacher training and continuous professional development courses, and its next course begins in February.

Accreditation success for Full Movement Method therapy training

Therapy teaching centre The Full Movement Training School is celebrating after being given official accreditation from the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

FHT is the largest and leading professional association for therapists in the UK and Ireland, and the news means that the Nottinghamshire-based Full Movement Training School has achieved official recognition for its course.

The Full Movement Training School, which teaches therapists a unique technique devised in the East Midlands, has been conferred an accredited course in the Full Movement Method Diploma Level 3.

“This is wonderful news for the team at The Full Movement Training School, as it gives us extra kudos, and will also show future students that we are an organisation that delivers results and that they can be confident in,” said FMTS director Liz Thomas.

The news comes as the Full Movement Training School prepares to launch courses in the New Year, which will be taught in Colwick, Nottingham, and the Eco-centre near Car Colston, Nottinghamshire.

Held roughly once a month at weekends over two years, the courses will teach participants to become therapists in the Full Movement Method, a unique method of resolving muscle and joint pain, immobility and malfunction.

It was developed by Andy Thomas, from West Bridgford, Nottingham, who had treated hundreds of patients over many years, including sportsmen and women, actors and road accident victims.

For many years, Andy trained therapists locally, nationally and abroad to practise FMM, and students have gone on to open FMM clinics in Bournemouth, Sheffield and elsewhere.

Andy, who died in March 2011, also ran the Nottinghamshire-based Shanti Yoga School, which has trained dozens of yoga teachers in Hatha Yoga. The core postures in yoga are at the heart of initial diagnosis for FMM, and Andy saw the flexibility that yoga postures bring as a fundamental key to relieving pain via FMM.

Shanti Yoga School has also recently gained its own official approval - an accreditation from Yoga Alliance UK, which sets standards for yoga, yoga teacher training, yoga teachers, and yoga training providers, and is re-opening in a new home at the eco-centre at Shackerdale Farm, Car Colston, near Bingham, in 2012.

“Now that both organisations have accreditation we are ready to take Andy’s legacy forward, and are looking forward to welcoming new students in the new year, and to teach them how to become therapists in FMM or teachers of yoga,” said Andy’s wife Liz Thomas. “We are also running Continuous Professional Development courses for existing teachers of both disciplines.”

Nottingham PR company Perfect 10 PR retained to support Shanti Yoga School and the Full Movement Training School

Nottinghamshire-based Shanti Yoga School and the Full Movement Training School have retained the services of Perfect 10 PR to handle their public relations operations.

Perfect 10 PR will provide public relations advice and consultancy for both organisations…helping them to raise their profiles within the East Midlands and beyond.

Both organisations were founded by therapist and yoga teacher Andy Thomas, from West Bridgford, who died in March 2011. His family and students have vowed that Andy’s legacy will continue, and have re-launched both groups.

The Full Movement Training School, based at the premises of the PDW Group in Colwick, Nottingham, provides teaching in the Full Movement Method - a unique therapy devised by Andy, which resolves muscle and joint pains, immobility and malfunction.

Andy trained therapists locally, nationally and abroad to practise FMM, and students have gone on to open FMM clinics in Bournemouth, Sheffield and elsewhere.

Shanti Yoga School, with a new home at Shackerdale Farm, Car Colston, near Bingham, has trained dozens of yoga teachers in Hatha Yoga. The core postures in yoga are at the heart of initial diagnosis for FMM.

Liz Thomas, Andy’s wife and a director of both organisations, said: “Perfect 10 PR provided PR support to both Shanti Yoga School and the Full Movement Training School previously, and we are very pleased to have retained their services as we go forward in the next chapter of the lives of both organisations following the loss of Andy.

“Andy was an inspirational teacher, both of yoga teachers and of his unique therapy FMM, and we value the support that Perfect 10 PR can give us as we build on Andy’s legacy and continue to teach yoga teachers and FMM practitioners.”

Louise Duffield, who runs West Bridgford-based Perfect 10 PR, said: “I am delighted to once again work with Shanti Yoga School and the Full Movement Method Training School.”
