Focus Consultants in the driving seat at museum redevelopment

Focus Consultants is playing a key role in the redevelopment of one of the UK’s most historically significant sites for motoring, aviation and engineering after helping Brooklands Museum secure a grant of more than £4.5 million.
The company has been appointed as project manager on the scheme at the museum in Weybridge, Surrey, which is the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation, home of Concorde and the site of many engineering and technological achievements throughout eight decades of the 20th century.
The redevelopment will transform the museum’s Grade II listed Second World War Wellington Hangar into The Brooklands Aircraft Factory; build a new annexe (the Flight Shed) to house more of the museum’s outstanding collection of historic aircraft; and restore the Finishing Straight of the Brooklands Race Track, the world’s first purpose-built motor-racing circuit.
The Focus team was also instrumental in helping the museum to secure £4.681 million funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for its Brooklands Aircraft Factory & Race Track Revival Project.
Associate at Focus Consultants, Eleanor Clarke, said: “We were very pleased to hear about the HLF investment in this significant redevelopment at what is a very important site for the history of motoring, aviation and engineering.
“The team at Focus is now working on delivering this exciting project, which also aims to inspire current and future generations to embrace science, technology and engineering, and will include a training scheme for volunteers in historic aircraft restoration and a raft of new activities on the Race Track.”
Nottingham-based Focus Consultants, which also has offices in Holborn in London, Leicester, Boston, and at Aubourn near Lincoln, has worked on projects at a number of British museums, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Imperial War Museum, the Charles Dickens Museum, MSHED Museum of Bristol and Sea City in Southampton.
Focus specialises in creative approaches to securing funding packages and delivering high quality projects across the UK. Since its creation in 1994, Focus has helped to secure more than £953 million of grant assistance for a range of projects and businesses across the UK and delivered more than £1.1 billion of projects and programmes.
The firm works across a range of sectors including heritage, museums, arts and culture, education and tourism. It is based at Phoenix Business Park, Nottingham, and this year celebrates its 21st anniversary.
The Brooklands Race Track was opened in 1907 and marked the start of organised motor racing in the UK. Within a year, early experiments in aviation were taking place on the site as well. From these beginnings, Brooklands rapidly evolved into an outstanding centre for the development and operation of racing cars, motorcycles and aircraft. The first person to travel over 100 miles in one hour, Percy Lambert, did so at Brooklands in 1913. The first British Grand Prix took place at Brooklands in 1926, as well as the first public demonstration of powered flight in the UK in 1909.
The redevelopment involves relocating the museum’s Wellington Hangar, built in 1940 on top of the Finishing Straight of the Race Track and used for the assembly of Wellington bombers and later for a variety of other industrial purposes. It now houses the museum’s famous Wellington “R” for “Robert” recovered from Loch Ness in 1985 and restored at Brooklands, and numerous other aircraft. Under the HLF-funded project, the hangar will be completely restored on a new site adjacent to its current one, allowing the Finishing Straight of the Race Track to be brought back into use for both motoring and aviation activities. The hangar itself will be presented as an aircraft factory.
The museum has raised more than £1.9 million in match funding for the project and is currently fundraising for the remaining £260,000. Including preparation and development work already undertaken, the complete cost of the project will be some £7 million, making it the largest endeavour the museum has ever embarked on.

Curry sauce producer Anila’s Authentic Sauces attends Pro-retail 2013

Award-winning curry sauce and accompaniments producer Anila’s Authentic Sauces is making its debut at the Pro-retail 2013 trade show.

Celebrating 21 years since Anila Vaghela began selling her curry sauces, the company will be showcasing its range for the first time at Pro-retail, which is billed as the biggest UK trade show for independent and multiple convenience retailers.

The event, which takes place on April 30th and May 1st at the International Centre in Telford, is expected to attract thousands of retailers and is the chance for suppliers and manufacturers to promote their latest lines.

“Our products are sold in a wide range of stores, and we’re very pleased to announce that we’ll be at Pro-retail this year,” said Anila Vaghela. “We hope it will be the chance for us to meet new customers, as well as reinforce relationships with existing clients.”

Anila’s concentrated sauces are based on traditional Indian recipes, and are gluten-free, dairy-free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Unusually for curry sauces, they don’t contain onions or garlic, which means they are suitable for people with intolerance to alliums, or for those who wish to avoid onions and garlic. They have won a number of awards, including Great Taste Awards and Free From Food Awards.

Anila’s produces eight different concentrated curry sauces, which are free from artificial colours, additives and preservatives, and 16 varieties of pickles, chutneys and dips.

Anila Vaghela sold her first curry sauce 21 years ago at a fair in Surrey, before going on to found Anila’s Authentic Sauces. The firm is based in Walton, Surrey, with a production unit in Hounslow.

Anila’s products are sold in the food halls of Harrods, Selfridges and John Lewis, Oxford Street and Bluewater, as well as hundreds of other outlets that include the Wholefoods chain of stores across the UK from Glasgow to Richmond in Surrey, Chatsworth Farm Shop, some Budgens outlets in the South East, plus delis, health food stores, garden centres and gift shops. Gold Star Award for Anila’s Authentic Sauces’ Hot Mango Pickle

The Hot Mango Pickle produced by Anila’s Authentic Sauces has struck gold in the Great Taste Awards by winning a gold star rating.

Regarded as the ‘Oscars’ of the fine food industry, it was the 12th Great Taste Award won by Anila’s Authentic Sauces, which produces premium curry sauces, pickles, chutneys and dips.

The gold star rating means that the judges found the Hot Mango Pickle to be a “virtually faultless food”.

Their comments included “we love the flavour of the raw mango”, “open textured and chunky giving it a rustic appearance. Nice to see the chilli seeds” and “a great aroma”.

“I am very pleased to hear that the Hot Mango Pickle has been rated as gold star,” said Anila Vaghela, who is celebrating her 20th year in the business in 2012.

“It’s a very popular product with our customers and is made with fresh green mangoes. It’s a perfect accompaniment to many different dishes and snacks, including curries, parathas and chappatis.”

Gluten free, dairy free and with no added sugar, the pickle is one of 17 accompaniments and eight curry sauces produced by Anila’s, which is based in Walton, Surrey, with a production unit in Hounslow.

The Great Taste Awards are run by the Guild of Fine Food and received almost 9,000 entries this year. Less than a third received an accolade of one gold star, two gold star or three gold star following the judging process.

Since 2005, Anila’s has won Great Taste Awards for a number of products, including its Goan Green Curry Sauce, the Spicy Mild Curry Sauce and the Spicy Korma Curry Sauce.

The company has also won other awards. Earlier this year the Goan Green Curry Sauce was named a winner in the FreeFrom Food Awards 2012. It was previously named Best Vegan Product in The Veggie Awards 2011 by Cook Vegetarian! magazine, with the judges saying: “Not only one of the best vegan curry sauces we’ve ever tried but one of the best curry sauces available. Its complexity of flavours makes its taste truly sensational.”

At the FreeFrom Food Awards 2012, the judges said: “Anila’s sauces are always so wonderful as she uses such beautifully fresh and pure ingredients in such perfect balance. Lovely, subtle flavours, gently permeated by the coconut milk. Deep green flavour and fantastic ingredients.”

This year Anila’s launched a new Spicy Indian Salsa to mark 20 years since Anila sold her first curry sauce at a local fair.

Anila’s sauces are free from artificial colours, additives and preservatives, are sugar, dairy and gluten free, contain no onion or garlic, and are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

The accompaniments are made with single fruits and vegetables, and natural ingredients.

Anila’s Authentic Sauces supplies hundreds of outlets that include speciality food halls, garden centres, delis, farm shops, gift shops and also health stores. The firm also sells direct to the public at farmers’ markets and at food shows and festivals as well as online via www.anilassauces.com

New spicy Indian salsa launched to celebrate 20 year anniversary for Anila’s sauces

Premium curry sauce producer Anila’s Authentic Sauces is launching a new spicy Indian salsa to celebrate 20 years in the business.

It’s 20 years since Anila Vaghela sold her first jar of homemade curry sauce at an Easter fair in Weybridge, Surrey, in 1992.

Now a supplier of award-winning curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips to top delis, speciality stores and farm shops across the UK, Anila’s Authentic Sauces is unveiling a new product to mark the occasion, together with a recipe leaflet.

The spicy Indian salsa complements the current range of 16 accompaniments produced by Anila’s which are made with single fruits and vegetables.

Handmade with fresh ingredients, the spicy Indian salsa is gluten free, dairy free and contains no onions or garlic.

A delicious blend of tomatoes, red peppers, green chillies and spices, the salsa is the perfect accompaniment to Anila’s range of eight authentic curry sauces.

“I started by using old traditional family recipes and I still use them today as the basis of my products, 20 years on,” said Anila Vaghela. “We continue to make our curry sauces and accompaniments in small batches, and we sell direct to the public via farmers’ markets and other events.

However, production has obviously increased significantly since those early days and my products are now on sale at places like Harrods, John Lewis Oxford Street and Bluewater, Chatsworth Farm Shop, and more recently Booths in Penrith and Manchester.

“The new spicy Indian salsa is also based on a family recipe, and I’m looking forward to sharing it with our customers.”

Recommended retail price for the 200g jar is £3.30. The salsa is currently available via www.anilassauces.com and is expected to be rolled out to stockists across the country.

Growing up as the eldest child and grandchild in the family, Anila learnt to cook alongside her mother, her grandmothers and her great grandmother while they were living in Zimbabwe.

Years later, as a busy mum living in Walton-on-Thames in Surrey, Anila would make large batches of curry sauce for convenience. Her cooking had always been popular with friends and family, and in the early 1990s she began selling jars of curry sauce on a very small scale in her local community. She sold all 80 jars at her first fair at Easter in Weybridge in 1992. Phone calls from very satisfied customers followed, and Anila began fulfilling small orders.

In 1997 she was made redundant from her job as a PA and decided to seize the opportunity to form her own company to develop Anila’s Authentic Sauces. Before long Anila’s curry sauces were on the shelves of a range of health stores, delicatessens and independent specialist shops.

Anila outgrew her kitchen at home and moved to a catering kitchen in Surbiton in 2002. A year later the business needed larger premises once more, and Anila’s re-located to a 1400 sq ft unit in Hounslow. In 2006, husband Dan also joined the team as operations manager and is in charge of production, whilst Anila takes care of sales & marketing.

Anila’s now produces eight varieties of curry sauce and 16 types of a mix of pickles, chutneys and dips – plus the spicy Indian salsa. The firm supplies hundreds of outlets that include garden centres, delis, farm shops, gift shops and also health stores. It also sells direct to the public at farmers’ markets and at food shows and festivals as well as online via www.anilassauces.com

“It’s amazing to think that it’s been 20 years since I made my first proper sale,” said Anila, who’s 55. “At the time, Indian food wasn’t anywhere near as popular as it is today, and there were very few small producers like myself, only large manufacturers supplying the supermarkets. I started with four flavours of curry sauce – additional sauces and the chutneys and pickles came later as a result of demand from customers.

“I was 40 when I was made redundant, and having set up my own business, I haven’t looked back. Since I was a child I have had a great love of food and of cooking, and it’s been a dream come true to run Anila’s.”

Anila’s sauces are based on a traditional family recipe, made from the freshest ingredients in small batches. They are free from artificial colours, additives and preservatives, and are sugar, dairy and gluten free, and contain no onion or garlic. Using 23 different spices, the sauces have a homemade quality just like “Mum makes” and there are certainly no imitations.

FoodLovers Approved, Anila’s Authentic Sauces has won 11 Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food for its products. Its Goan Green Curry Sauce was named Best Vegan Product in The Veggie Awards 2011 by Cook Vegetarian! magazine, with the judges saying: “Not only one of the best vegan curry sauces we’ve ever tried but one of the best curry sauces available. Its complexity of flavours makes its taste truly sensational.”

In 2009 Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a “Free From” Food Award.

Stylish new look for award-winning Anila's Authentic Sauces

Premium curry sauce and accompaniments producer Anila’s Authentic Sauces has unveiled a stylish new branding with peel and reveal labelling that will inspire customers to create fantastic dishes of their own.

The award-winning producer, which sells through delis, farm shops, health food stores and quality food retailers across the UK, has designed new labels to reflect the distinct characteristics of the range.

The labels highlight the concentrated nature of the superb Indian curry sauces – adding water doubles the quantity of curry sauce. The labels also emphasize the authentic great taste …and that the sauces contain only natural ingredients, are free from dairy, gluten, added sugar, onion and garlic, and are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

And behind the new-look label on each jar is a guide to making the perfect authentic meal using the ingredients of your choice along with serving suggestions and contact details for even more great recipe ideas.

The curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips are also being packaged in chic new jars.

Anila’s produces eight premium concentrated curry sauces, covering most regional tastes of India, handmade in small batches, as well as a range of 16 chutneys, pickles and dips made with single fruits and vegetables. Anila's Authentic Sauces gains first distribution order to Switzerland

Anila’s Authentic Sauces will be warming up meals in snowy Switzerland after the firm received its first export order from the country.

Earlier this year the award-winning curry sauce and accompaniments producer won an export order to Germany after exhibiting at the world’s most important food and drink sector trade fair, Anuga.

Anila’s travelled with UK Trade & Investment to exhibit as part of the British Pavilion at Anuga in Cologne in October 2009.

Now the company run by Anila Vaghela has secured a second order as a result of contacts made at the trade fair and has started exporting to Switzerland for the first time.

A Swiss distributor has ordered more than 1,100 jars of curry sauces, chutneys and pickles from the firm, which is based in Walton-on-Thames with a unit in Hounslow, and is run by Anila and her husband Dan.

“This is great news for Anila’s Authentic Sauces,” said Anila Vaghela. “Exhibiting at Anuga marked the start of our push into exporting to Continental Europe, and I am delighted that this is now bearing fruit for us.”

The distributor has taken the whole of Anila’s range, which features eight premium curry sauces, handmade in small batches, and 16 chutneys, pickles and dips made with single fruits and vegetables.

Anila’s now exports to Germany, Ireland, Dubai and Switzerland, and hopes to continue expanding to other countries.

The news of the Switzerland order comes as Anila’s celebrates scooping a two ** Gold Great Taste Award for its popular Goan Green Curry Sauce.

The accolade marked the 11th Great Taste Award presented to Anila’s range of premium curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips by The Guild of Fine Food.

To win such a high rating, up to 20 judges unanimously agreed that the Goan Green Curry Sauce had achieved ‘absolute perfection’.

“The Goan Green Curry Sauce is one of our most popular sauces, and we are thoroughly delighted that the judges of the Great Taste Awards 2010 agree that it’s something very special,” said Anila, who founded Anila’s Authentic Sauces in 1997.

The Great Taste Awards are the national benchmark in speciality food and drink, and have been running since 1993.

Made with mint, coriander, spinach and coconut, Anila’s Goan Green Curry Sauce is sold in a range of speciality retailers, delis and farm shops.

Anila’s cooking has always been popular with friends and family, and in the early 1990s she began selling jars of curry sauce on a very small scale in her local community in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey. She sold all 80 jars at her first fair at Weybridge in 1992. Phone calls from very satisfied customers followed, and Anila began fulfilling small orders.

In 1997 she was made redundant from a job as a PA and decided to seize the opportunity to form her own company to develop Anila’s Authentic Sauces.

She carried out extensive research, took expert business advice, and felt there was a gap in the market for high-quality, premium curry sauces. She soon gained a listing in the food hall of her local department store, and before long Anila’s curry sauces were on the shelves of a range of health stores, delicatessens and independent specialist shops.

Anila outgrew her kitchen at home and moved to a catering kitchen in Surbiton in 2002. A year later the business needed larger premises once more, and Anila’s re-located to a 1400 sq ft unit in Hounslow. In 2006, husband Dan also joined the team.

Anila’s products are now sold at John Lewis Oxford Street and John Lewis Bluewater, and top quality gourmet stores, such as Harrods, Wholefoods and Planet Organic, plus hundreds of other outlets that include health food stores, garden centres and gift shops, as well as smaller independent stores such as Budgens at Ascot, Shepperton and Crouch End. Anila’s also sells direct to the public at 28 farmers’ markets across Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, including Guildford, Walton, Windsor, Maidenhead, Ascot, Cobham, Beaconsfield and Farnham, and online via http://www.anilassauces.com/

A curry sauce from Anila’s Authentic Sauces is not just the key ingredient for a great-tasting curry… it can also be the basis for a whole range of different dishes.

Perfect for pepping up pizzas, superb in sandwiches, delicious in dips, and mouth-watering in marinades, Anila’s award-winning curry sauces are the ideal store cupboard essential.

And with the barbecue season fast approaching, it’s a great idea to have a few jars on standby so that you’re fully prepared to take advantage of the sunshine…when it appears!

“There are so many different ways that a jar of Anila’s curry sauce can be used in recipes,” explains Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business in 1997. “As well as being the key ingredient for tasty authentic curries, they can also be used to spice up a range of dishes….from pizzas to sandwiches.”

Try spreading Anila’s curry sauce onto bread, adding sliced cheese and tomato, and grilling for a delicious snack. Or add a tablespoon of Anila’s curry sauce to salad cream or mayonnaise for a tangy dip that can be served with fresh crunchy vegetables or chips.

Anila’s produces a range of eight premium curry sauces, handmade in small batches and free from preservatives, sugar, dairy and gluten. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, the sauces are also perfect for those with allium intolerance, as they don’t contain onions or garlic.

Anila's range to be exhibited at the Natural & Organic trade show in April 2010

Revised branding that highlights the health messages of Anila’s curry sauces and condiments will be showcased at the Natural & Organic trade show in April 2010.

The labelling of Anila’s authentic range has been tweaked to emphasize the gluten-free, dairy-free, onion-free and garlic-free nature of her products.

The move has been made in response to an increase in demand for Anila’s curry sauces, chutneys, pickles and dips from those with intolerances and allergies.

The entire range of eight curry sauces and 16 chutneys, pickles and dips will be on display at the trade show, which runs from 11th to 12th April at Olympia, London.

“Our branding changes to Anila’s products have been slight, but they have been made to highlight and promote the fact that our products are dairy-free, gluten-free, onion-free and garlic-free,” said Anila’s founder Anila Vaghela, who launched the family-run business in 1997. “They have several USPs, including the benefits to those who have intolerances to certain ingredients.

“The ‘free from’ market is becoming an increasingly important side of the business. Anila’s curry sauces weren’t specifically designed to be ‘free from’ foods – it’s just the way they are. However, it’s more than a happy coincidence, because it’s the way I like to cook and the sort of food I like to eat. One of the things that appeals to Anila’s customers with food allergies or intolerances is that they can eat sit down and share the same food as the rest of their families.

“My curry sauces also illustrate the fact that ‘free from’ foods don’t have to be bland or tasteless in any way. Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce won a three star gold Great Taste Award in 2007, and last year was also crowned the winner in the Free From Food Awards in the pies, flans, sausages and sauces category. It’s won a gourmet award and a ‘free from’ award, which says a lot.”

Anila’s sauces are based on traditional Indian recipes, and are suitable for vegetarians and vegans. As well as the Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooping a Free From Food Award last year, Anila’s sauces have also won ten Great Taste Awards.

Anila’s distinctive and delicious range of mouth-watering ‘handmade’ chutneys, pickles and dips are made with single fruits and vegetables, and team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks and cheeses.

Anila’s products are sold at John Lewis Oxford Street and John Lewis Bluewater, as well as top quality gourmet stores, such as Harrods, plus at hundreds of other outlets including Wholefoods, Planet Organic, delis, health food stores, garden centres and gift shops. Anila’s also sells direct to the public at 28 farmers’ markets across Surrey, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, including Byfleet, Guildford, Henley, Walton, Woking and Windsor, and online via www.anilassauces.com

The firm is based in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, with a unit in West London.

Anila’s Authentic Sauces will be making its debut at the National Farmers’ Retail and Markets Association trade show in January 2010.

The Surrey-based firm run by Anila Vaghela is exhibiting at the FARMA show for the first time, which this year takes place at Telford International Centre on January 27th 2010.

“I have supplied farm shops and independent stores for many years, and traded at farmers’ markets for more than a decade, and I feel this is the perfect opportunity to introduce Anila’s curry sauces and accompaniments to a wider trade audience,” said Anila, who is based in Walton-on-Thames and has a unit in Hounslow.

“We believe that our products give farm shop customers the chance to re-create a quality dine-in experience to match that of restaurants with our range of award winning curry sauces. With pickles and chutneys which are ideal on the side of a curry or as an accompaniment with Indian snacks and side dishes, there will be something to tickle all tastebuds from our large range. The accompaniments are a delight with cheese and in sandwiches too.”

Anila’s, which was launched in 1997, produces a range of eight curry sauces, based on traditional Indian recipes. They have won ten Great Taste Awards, and in 2009 Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award.

Anila’s curry sauces are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, as well as being sugar-free, gluten-free and dairy-free. They also don’t contain onions or garlic, and are perfect for anyone with specific allergies or intolerances.

“The Farm & More Trade Show is part of a three-day event run by FARMA, which also includes a conference, awards dinner, and best-practice visits. I’m hoping it proves to be an excellent opportunity to meet potential new retail customer for Anila’s products,” said Anila.

The Farm & More Trade Show is the largest ever organised by FARMA, with more than 100 exhibitors.

Help banish the New Year winter blues naturally with Anila’s curry sauces and accompaniments

Anila’s curry sauces are the tasty way to help lift a mood and banish the winter blues. The heat and spices of a curry triggers the release of endorphins, otherwise known as the ‘feel good’ hormones, … helping to create a natural ‘high’.

A perfect ‘pick-me-up’ when days are dull, a curry could be just the thing to put some sparkle in your step.

But be prepared – it’s thought by some that curries are addictive, so be sure to stock up the cupboards to see you through the winter.

“When you eat a curry, the body releases endorphins in response to the hotter ingredients in the dish,” explains Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business of Anila’s Authentic Sauces in 1997. “These ‘feel good’ hormones help to lift a mood and make people feel happier, so curries are perfect as a pick-me-up during the gloomy winter months.”

Anila’s curry sauces are suitable for vegetarians and vegans, as well as being sugar-free, gluten-free and dairy-free. They also don’t contain onions or garlic.

Perfect for anyone with specific allergies or intolerances, Anila’s has a range of eight curry sauces, based on traditional Indian recipes. They have won ten Great Taste Awards, and in 2009 Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award.

Several studies have shown that eating curry releases endorphins, or feel good hormones, which help relieve stress and lift a mood. Some of the spices used in Anila’s curry sauces are also beneficial for other aspects of health. Cumin is good for the intestines, while fennel helps swellings or upset stomachs. Ginger has anti-inflammatory properties, boosts circulation and is good for colds and joints. Coriander can also help with respiratory problems when combined with cumin and turmeric, which in itself is an antioxidant that cleanses the blood and is good for joints.

Salicylic acid, which is used in aspirin, and is found naturally in curries, can help prevent colon cancer and treat headaches.

“Spices are an excellent way of boosting health during winter,” explains Anila.

As well as curry sauces, Anila’s also produces a distinctive and delicious range of 16 different mouth-watering ‘handmade’ chutneys, pickles and dips, which are made with single fruits and vegetables, and team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks, meats and cheeses.

Based in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, Anila’s also has a unit in West London.

Anila’s products are available from www.anilassauces.com or at the 28 farmers’ markets across the south listed on the website, as well as in John Lewis Oxford Street and John Lewis Bluewater. They are also sold in top quality gourmet stores, such as Harrods and Selfridges, plus hundreds of other outlets, including Wholefoods, Planet Organic, delis, health food stores, garden centres and gift shops.

Anila's entire range goes on the world stage at Anuga in October

Award-winning Anila’s is making a push onto the global stage by exhibiting at the world’s most important food and drink sector trade fair, Anuga, in October.

The authentic curry sauce, pickles, chutneys and dips producer will be showcasing its entire range of 24 products at the event in Germany for the first time.

Anila’s will also be introducing slight changes to its branding and launching a new eight-page brochure.

Anila Vaghela, who founded the family-run business in 1997, believes there is huge potential for export for her products and hopes to double sales by building on the recent export orders to Dubai and Ireland that she has secured.

“There’s been a big demand for authentic, gourmet curry sauces and accompaniments in the UK for quite some time now, as the popularity of Indian food has increased, and I believe there’s an untapped market in Europe and beyond,” said Anila.

“I know that my products are taken abroad to friends and family when people travel from the UK. They’ve also gone down very well in Dubai and Ireland where I now export to. I’m hoping that the interest in premium, high-end curry sauces and accompaniments in Europe, America and the Middle East will continue, and that attending Anuga will give me the opportunity to promote my range to distributors and buyers and target these areas.

“I’m looking forward to presenting my products on the world stage, and exhibiting at Anuga for the first time.”

Anila’s range features eight varieties of authentic curry sauces and 16 varieties of pickles, chutneys and dips. Anila’s sauces are based on traditional Indian recipes, and are gluten-free and dairy-free. Suitable for vegetarians and vegans, they are also free from onions and garlic, which suits people who are intolerant to alliums.

Anila’s sauces have won ten Great Taste Awards, and earlier this year her Spicy Korma Curry Sauce scooped a Free From Food Award.

Anila’s distinctive and delicious range of mouth-watering ‘handmade’ chutneys, pickles and dips are made with single fruits and vegetables, and team up perfectly with a variety of dishes, snacks and cheeses.

Recent tweaks to Anila’s branding and labels, which will be unveiled at Anuga for the first time, highlight the USPs of the products, including the benefits to those who have intolerances to certain ingredients.

Anila bases her recipes on the dishes she creates for her family, and it’s more than a happy coincidence that her products are suitable for so many people with different intolerances and allergies.

“The ‘free from’ market is becoming an increasingly important side of the business,” said Anila. “Anila’s curry sauces aren’t specifically designed to be ‘free from’ foods – it’s just the way they are.

Anila’s Spicy Korma Curry Sauce won a three star gold Great Taste Award in 2007, and earlier this year was crowned the winner in the Free From Food Awards in the pies, flans, sausages and sauces category. It’s won a gourmet award and a ‘free from’ award, which says a lot.”

Anila’s, which recently launched its entire range at John Lewis Oxford Street and John Lewis Bluewater, are sold in top quality gourmet stores, such as Harrods and Selfridges, plus hundreds of other outlets that include Wholefoods, Planet Organic, delis, health food stores, garden centres and gift shops. Anila’s also sells direct to the public at 28 farmers’ markets and online via www.anilassauces.com

Based in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, and with a unit in West London, Anila’s will be at Anuga in Cologne, Germany, from October 10th to 14th with UKTI in the British Pavilion.

See Anila’s at Anuga in hall number 10.2 (Fine Food). Block number is F058/G059.
