Affordable homes role for Focus Consultants

Residents have moved into a new development built with support from property experts at Focus Consultants.

The company acted as employer’s agent on a £1.05 million scheme in Marsden Drive, Scunthorpe, for Ongo Homes (formerly North Lincolnshire Homes), where 14 homes have recently been completed on the site of a former pub.

Focus also provided a number of other roles at the site, including Code for Sustainable Homes assessor and CDM Coordinator.

The development of affordable homes, which features 13 two-bedroom properties and one three-bedroom home, was the latest in a number of projects the Boston office of Focus has undertaken for Ongo.

Industrial park scheme role for Focus Consultants

Experts at Focus Consultants are playing a key role in a £2m development to build 19 new industrial units, which have scope to create or safeguard almost 300 jobs in coming years.

The company is providing a number of services for the North Kesteven District Council Blackwood Court development on North Hykeham’s Teal Park in Lincolnshire, including support project management, employer’s agent, principal designer/CDM advisor and BREEAM assessor.

Lindum Construction is building the scheme for North Kesteven District Council, which is part of the council’s commitment to attracting and supporting start-up businesses. The units will range in size from 500 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft and will be used for a wide range of uses from storage and distribution to general industrial premises.

The units are due to be completed by mid-February, with lettings likely to start around the New Year.

Teal Park is a strategic allocated employment site, granted outline planning permission in 2011 for a total of 133,720m2 of employment floor space, a hotel, public house, leisure and trade showrooms. Under the GrowLN6 project, the wider LN6 area is a focus for coordinated partnership work by NKDC, City of Lincoln Council and the County Council to attract new inward business investment and expansion.

Focus Consultants wins commission for Lincolnshire housing scheme

Focus Consultants has been appointed by the Waterloo Housing Group on a scheme to redevelop one of the few derelict sites left in Boston in Lincolnshire into affordable housing for local people. 

The company has been secured as Employer’s Agent, CDM Co-ordinator, and Party Wall Surveyor for the development in Blue Street, on the site of the former Pilgrim Foods depot. The firm’s energy team will also provide energy carbon sustainability services for the project, which will create new homes for 41 families. 

Work has just got underway on the £5 million scheme, which is being built in two phases by D Brown Building Contractors Ltd. The development has also been supported by Boston Borough Council and the Homes and Communities Agency. Completion of the scheme is expected in Autumn 2015.

Milestone in social housing for Focus Consultants

The Lincolnshire office of Focus Consultants is marking a milestone after completing work on almost 4,000 social housing units.

Since the Lincolnshire office opened 12 years ago, the practice has been involved in social housing schemes across the county and beyond – stretching north of the Humber and into Norfolk and Leicestershire.

Providing a range of services from energy assessments to the employer’s agent/contract administration role, Focus Consultants has worked on social housing projects that include both small-scale schemes and larger developments.

Now the firm is currently involved in a development of 66 social housing homes in Louth and is poised to start work on 35 homes in Grimsby, where Focus will be the employer’s agent, CDM co-ordinator, Party Wall Act surveyor and is taking care of the energy assessments.

“We have worked with both developers and registered providers on social housing schemes across Lincolnshire and beyond, and were pleased to see just how many individual homes we had been involved in when we looked into it recently,” said Trevor Newton, partner at Focus Consultants’ Lincolnshire offices.
